  • On 10 June 2006, new life was breathed into one of Germany's most unspoiled and romantic walking trails. As far back as 200 years ago travellers would come and be amazed by the endless array of bizarre rock formations, wild gorges and lofty plateaus offering breathtaking views. Generation after generation of artists followed in their footsteps through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, including Romantic painters like Caspar David Friedrich, Carl Gustav Carus and Ludwig Richter. They all stuck to a popular route that would later become known as the "Malerweg". Today, it also continues to the left of the Elbe.www.malerweg.de

  • Erich Kästner Detective Game
  • In the outer Neustadt area, a gang want to blow up all of the places that remind us of Erich Kästner. The industry is behind this; they want kids to stop reading books and just play computer games, watch TV and eat popcorn. And that's why the gang is called the Popcorn Gang. The explosives have all been laid. Luckily, the gang's boss was vain enough to tag them all with letters from his name. So all you need to do is find the letters and put them in the correct order, then you can arrest him. Along the way you'll find out how Kästner lived here 100 years ago. For more information:
